Rumson Woman Charged with DUI After Tailgating Police Car
A Sparta police officer said her 2013 Lexus was driving too close to him on Rt. 15 Monday morning. She had a minor in the car, police said.

SPARTA, NJ— A woman from Rumson was arrested in northern New Jersey Monday after police said she tailgated a police car while drunk, and had a minor in the car at the time.
According to the Sparta Patch, a police officer in Sparta, NJ noticed a 2013 Lexus was driving too close behind him on Rt. 15 Monday morning. Patrol Officer Taylor May ran the car's registration, and found that it was expired. May stopped the car, and began to suspect the driver, a 50-year-old Rumson woman, was drunk, according to a press release.
The woman failed a series of field sobriety tests, and was arrested. Police said she had a minor in the car with her when she was pulled over, but did not say how old the child was.

She was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless driving, following too closely, expired registration, failure to produce registration and failure to produce insurance card. She was also charged criminally with driving while intoxicated with a minor in the car.
She was released to a sober adult with a pending court date.
