Sandy Anniversary: Waterspirit Event Will 'Reflect, Rejuvenate'

On Oct. 29, the environmental and spiritual organization will meet in Rumson to consider the impact of the storm on people and the planet.

RUMSON, NJ — Superstorm Sandy struck New Jersey 10 years ago this month, on Oct. 29, causing severe hardship and trauma for many in the area.

And Waterspirit, the environmental and spiritual organization based in Rumson, will mark the anniversary with an event this month.

Moments of "reflection, reconciliation and rejuvenation" will take place as Waterspirit commemorates the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at its headquarters at 4 E. River Road, here, located at the First Presbyterian Church of Rumson.

The group will offer participants a chance to share experiences, give thanks for the helpers and work together toward a hopeful future, the organization says.

"Our hearts go out to every person and family that endured the hardships that Superstorm Sandy and many other disasters have brought to their lives," the organization said.

Waterspirit asks: "These experiences produced anxiety, anger and frustration for many. Are there also messages of healing and transformation? Are we being called to a deeper understanding of ourselves and our connection with Earth and her waters?"
