The Borough of Fanwood is performing preliminary engineering for the South Avenue Transportation Infrastructure Development Project, consisting of the streetscape and intersection improvements along South Avenue (State Highway Route 28) within the Borough’s Business District. The project will also include new and reconstruction of existing sidewalk, construction of ADA curb ramps where required, driveway and access improvements. Streetscaping improvements will include textured sidewalks, new streetlights, bike racks, bus stop shelters, street trees with grates and planters among other improvements. The project is Federally Funded through the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) – Transportation Alternatives Program, from a grant received by the Borough for future construction. The Borough is extending an invitation to the general public regarding a Public Information Meeting. The project team has performed data collection, environmental and cultural resource screenings, and advanced the layout and design for the proposed improvements, which will be presented at the meeting. The Public Information Meeting will be followed by a presentation to the Borough Council at 8 pm. The Borough Council is extending an invitation to the general public to participate in a Public Information Meeting to procure input and feedback regarding this project.
