Boxes Of Hope To Help Quarantined Scotch Plains Residents

Evangel Church in Scotch Plains has launched its Boxes of Hope program to deliver key essentials during the new coronavirus outbreak.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Evangel Church in Scotch Plains has launched its Boxes of Hope program to deliver key essentials to the doorsteps of neighbors within the township community to those most in need during the new coronavirus outbreak.

Evangel Church at 1251 Terrill Rd. is looking to spread hope faster than the COVID-19 virus.

"As may of you there is a lot uncertainty going on very uncertain and very unstable in our world today. One of the things that has burdened our heart the most are those that have to self quarantine for 14 days because they have been exposed to, contracted or are living with someone who has been exposed or has contracted COVID-19. ... We want to bring a box of hope to you and tell you that you are loved and there is a church, a god in heaven that has not forgotten you and a town that cares about you and wants to meet your need," said Pastor Chris.

President Donald Trump declared New Jersey a major disaster area on Thursday as Gov. Phil Murphy, speaking during a live press conference, announced a stunning increase in coronavirus cases: 2,492, as well as 19 more deaths. The case total was the largest increase, by far, in any one day in New Jersey, which Murphy attributed largely to increased testing. There are now 6,876 cases in New Jersey and 81 deaths.
