Brief: Testimony for Thursday's Cell Tower Meeting Likely to be Postponed

T-Mobile's lawyer said he will not proceed with the testimony he had planned to present Thursday night.

Tonight's meeting of the Scotch Plains Zoning Board of Adjustment to discuss T-Mobile's application to construct a 120-foot cell tower at will be significantly shortened, and testimony likely will not be heard until after the New Year.

Previously, the Zoning Board had requested that T-Mobile conduct and present the results of a "drive test," which determines mobile phone and data coverage around a proposed tower site. Those results were scheduled to be presented Thursday, Dec. 16. The lawyer representing T-Mobile, John Edwards, informed the Zoning Board that the results were not yet ready to present, Zoning Board secretary Barbara Horev said in a telephone interview. As a result, the Zoning Board will likely postpone any testimony until its next meeting.

The Zoning Board will, however, take-up an ordinance regarding T-Mobile's proposed cell tower at Hillside Cemetery, which the board unanimously rejected Oct. 6.
