Join us at the Scotch Plains Public Library on Thursday, July 2, at 7:00pm for a fascinating program on the Rise, Reign and Redemption of the Yellowstone Wolves. Despite being charged with protecting “against the wanton destruction” of wildlife resources, in 1926 the last wolf in Yellowstone was killed by NPS park rangers, extirpating the species from most of the continental United States.
Presenter Zachary Rittner is head of the Environmental Science department at Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. He is advisor to the Conservation in the Classroom program, a Chris Morgan Wildlife Ambassador, and a naturalist at Trailside Nature Center. The Rise of Wolf 8: Witnessing the Triumph of Yellowstone's Underdog is one of his favorite books.
