Deadline Approaches To File Scotch Plains, Fanwood BOE Candidates

Scotch Plains/Fanwood, NJ - Looking to run for the Scotch Plains or Fanwood Board of Education?

The deadline for filing candidate petitions is July 25 at 4 p.m. in the Office of the Union County Clerk, Elections Division, 2 Broad Street, Room 113, Elizabeth.

Each petition must have 10 valid signatures.

“Candidates still have ample time to file, but with summer vacations under way the days can slip by quickly,” said Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi. “If you would like to be on the ballot this November, please ensure that you file in time.”

Except for Plainfield and Summit, every municipality in Union County holds school board elections concurrent with the General Election in November.

Plainfield school board elections are held in April. The school board in Summit is appointed by the Mayor. School Board positions have a three-year term.

Election Day this year is Tuesday November 8.
