- Incumbent Democrat Kevin Glover - 2,139 votes
- Republican Alexander Smith - 747 votes
Township Council:
There is also one four-year township council position open.
- Democrat Luisa Bianco - 2,169 votes
- Republican Theodore Spera - 746 votes
Fanwood Race
There is an uncontested race for two three-year councilmen seats in Fanwood.
Democrat Katherine Mitchell - 760 votes
Democrat Tom Kranz - 731 votes
Presidential race
In the Presidential race, Hillary Clinton was the winner in Union County with 39,934 votes over Bernie Sanders with 18,110 votes. Donald J. Trump won with 12,088 votes.
Legislative race
On the legislative level, there were four vying for a two-year term seat for the House of Representatives - 7th Congressional District, which covers Berkeley Heights, Clark, Cranford, Garwood, Kenilworth, Mountainside, New Providence, Scotch Plains (part), Springfield,Summit, Union Township (part), Westfield, Winfield Township.
Democrats:
Peter Jacob, the only Democrat running for the seat took home 12,126 votes.
Republicans:
On the Republican side Leonard Lance took home the win.
- Leonard Lance - 5,282 votes
- David Larsen - 2,751 votes
- Craig P. Heard - 499 votes
Three were running for a a two-year term seat for the House of Representatives - 12th Congressional District, which covers Fanwood, Plainfield, Scotch Plains (part).
Democrats:
Bonnie Watson Coleman won with 7,321 votes over Alexander J. Kucsma with 682 votes.
Republicans:
The Republican race was uncontested with Steven J. Uccio getting 982 votes.
County race
Everyone was a winner on the county level as six candidates were running for three three-year term seats as Union County Freeholders. This was an uncontested primary race.
Democrats:
- Linda S. Carter of Plainfield - 37,749 votes
- Bette Jane Kowalski of Cranford - 35,846 votes
- Sergio Grandos of Elizabeth - 35,098 votes
Republicans:
- Josegh G. Aubourg of Roselle - 8,280 votes
- Glenn E. Gelband of Mountainside - 8,226 votes
- Justin Verzosa of Union - 8,087 votes
