Fanwood To Live Stream Council Meeting, Announces Closures
Fanwood Municipal Court, Borough Hall, Library and more are closed due to the new coronavirus.
FANWOOD, NJ — The Fanwood Mayor and Council meeting will be live streamed on Monday night and multiple municipal offices have been closed amid coronavirus concerns.
Fanwood council members are encouraging residents to watch the live stream of the meeting at 7 p.m. instead of coming to borough hall. The meeting will be streamed on facebook.com/fanwoodnewjersey or through Public Access television Channel - on Comcast channel 35, and on Verizon/FiOS channel 24.
Megan Avallone, Health Officer of the Westfield Regional Board of Health, will be at the meeting to take questions in real-time.

Additionally, Fanwood Memorial Library is closed until further notice and all community-related activities and events are canceled until further notice.

Borough Hall will remain open but will be closed to the public. Instead residents can use a drop box at the front of Borough Hall, as well as email and calls to contact borough administrators.
Fanwood Police Department is encouraging residents to file police reports by calling 908-322-5000. Police are also offering delivery of essential medical equipment/medicine to senior residents on a need basis. (See Related: Fanwood Police Offer Delivery Of Essentials To Seniors)
Scotch Plains-Fanwood Regional Schools are also closed until further notice. Playdates, social gatherings, and sleepovers are also discouraged. (See Related: Scotch Plains-Fanwood Schools To Close Until Further Notice)
Fanwood Municipal Court will also be closed through March 27. Anyone who is scheduled to appear before a Municipal Court to contest a traffic or parking ticket, or minor local ordinance violation should not appear and should await notice of a new court date.
As of Monday Gov. Phil Murphy announced there are 178 positive cases of COVID-19 in New Jersey. Of those five were in Somerset County.
Non-essential businesses in New Jersey will shut down beginning on Monday at 8 p.m. because of the coronavirus outbreak, Murphy announced. New Jerseyans should not do "non-essential travel" – such as leaving your home – from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Murphy said. (See Related: NJ Coronavirus Curfew: Bars, Restaurants, Theaters To Shut)
