Fundraiser Will Bring Together Local Performers, Artists and the Public to Benefit Community Theater

Local theater groups, actors, playwrights, musicians and aspiring artists will convene to support community theater and the arts.

DUNELLEN, N.J., July 14, 2015 – Local theater groups, actors, playwrights, musicians and aspiring artists will convene at a fundraiser to network and support community theater and the arts on Friday, July 24 at Zupko’s Tavern. The “Summer Stock & Rock” event is open to the public and will feature live music from GoodWorks, a New Jersey rock and soul band that supports the “good works” of charities. A $10 donation to support Dunellen Skylight Theatre Productions is suggested.

“Laugh during a movie, hum along with music, wonder at a beautiful painting, cry at a passage in a book—the arts express our humanity and are a part of everyday life,” said Gail Woerner, vice president, Dunellen Skylight Theatre Productions. “This event is a unique way to show appreciation for the arts, while helping a young community organization. It will be a fun night out of good food, great music and a way to network with like-minded people.”

The Summer Stock & Rock event will run from 7:30-12 p.m. and will feature food, door prizes and themed drink specials, such as “Encore on the Beach,” “STELLA!” and “Red Carpet.” Attendees can buy a special “fill-in resume” tee shirt to wear to upcoming auditions. Other highlights include free head shots donated by a local photographer and an improv contest to be videotaped and posted on YouTube. The GoodWorks band will play from 9-11 p.m., featuring music from Joe Cocker to James Brown to Bruce Springsteen.
