Gallery: Friday Night Fundraiser for Fanwood Council Candidates
The Borough Council's Republican candidates, Anthony Parenti and Jason Benedict, hold a lawn party outside Benedict's home.
Anthony Parenti and Jason Benedict, Republican candidates for the Fanwood Borough Council this November, held a lawn party fundraiser Friday evening at Benedict's house on North Avenue. Parenti currently serves on the council, and Benedict is seeking his first council election victory.
Despite heat, humidity, mosquitoes and a chance of rain, about 50 people turned-out in support of the two candidates. Guests included curious borough residents, conservatives from across the county, Union County Freeholder candidates and Congressman Leonard Lance (R-Hunterdon County), who is seeking reelection in November.
"It was an opportunity to meet folks and to find out what the community needs," Benedict said.

Over beer and lemonade – free following a $10 entrance fee – the office holders, candidates and guests chatted about local, state and federal issues. Many wore red in support of the Republican Party.
Nicole Cole, Joe Britt and Jean-Michele Moore, members of the Fanwood Republican Campaign Team, helped organized the event.
