SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A Scotch Plains resident discovered more than $160,000 in unfamiliar charges after noticing unusual activity while making changes to an account, according to police.

Police said the resident later reported that an unknown person or people had accessed the account and used it to pay bills totaling more than $160,000.
