Public Hearing On 228-Unit Housing Project Set For Scotch Plains

The Scotch Plains Planning Board's public hearing is set for ​Monday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. to discuss the proposed project on Terrill Road.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The public will have a chance to speak on an application proposing to build 228 housing units along Terrill Road.

A letter was sent out to neighboring residents alerting them of the Scotch Plains Planning Board's public hearing set for Monday, Sept. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Municipal Building, 430 Park Ave., in Scotch Plains.

The meeting will go over the application by SP Reserve Urban Renewal LLC for the roughly 13.5 acre property at 1325 Terrill Road. The property is located in the Parker Gardens Redevelopment Area.

Preliminary and final major site plan and subdivision approvals are needed to be able to construct a 228-unit inclusionary multifamily development (including 34 affordable housing units) and related site improvements on the property.

Along with the housing units, SP Reserve Urban Renewal is looking to dedicate a 2.27-acre parcel to the township to be used for athletic fields and associated parking and a .35 acre parcel to the township for public open space.

To learn more about the proposed application residents can look at copies of the maps and documents at the Board Office, Township of Scotch Plains Municipal Building, 430 Park Ave., in Scotch Plains from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
