SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Hundreds of volunteers from the Evangel Church of Scotch Plains will be doing a variety of service projects throughout the area, including packing meals for Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) as a part of "Service for Service" on Sunday. The meals, which are prepared for malnourished children, are then distributed globally by FMSC.

"We're excited to support Feed My Starving Children by activating 500 volunteers to pack life-giving meals for children in need around the world," says Pastor Chris Morante. "We believe that each meal a child receives is a tangible demonstration of God's love for them, and we are blessed to be a part of it."

Feed My Starving Children has been transforming children’s health since March of 2009. They have sent millions of meals to children in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, North and Central America, South America, and other countries.

This bi-annual daylong event, Service for Service, has the more than 1,200 volunteers doing community service projects in Fanwood, Scotch Plains, Plainfield, and Metro Park as a way to spread hope and show love to neighbors. The event was born out of Superstorm Sandy relief efforts.

Volunteer activities will range from building homes with Habitat for Humanity, to having a coffee and a chat with veterans at the Veteran’s Hospital, to packing food boxes for Feed My Starving Children, to doing handiwork for community members in need. Each volunteer will have the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life, including their own.
