Scotch Plains To Dedicate Memorial To Late Councilwoman Checchio
Councilwoman Rose Checchio died in October 2018 following a long battle with breast cancer.
SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — Scotch Plains will honor the late Councilwoman Rose Checchio with a special ceremony and a dedication of a memorial in her name on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
The ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. on the Alan Augustine Village Green at 430 Park Ave. The public is invited to attend, but are asked to practice social distancing. The memorial and installation is a gift from Checchio Paving, Inc.
Checchio died, at the age of 46, on Oct. 21 2018 following a long battle with breast cancer. She was elected as Councilwoman in 2014 and went on to be named Deputy Mayor in 2015. She also served as liaison to the Recreation Department.
