Fanwood Council: Democrats Take The Win, Unofficial Results Say

SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ — The unofficial results are in as all of the districts in Fanwood and Scotch Plains have reported. It appears the Democrats have beat the Republicans for Fanwood Council, according to unofficial results reported by Union County. The final count on Mail in Ballots will be provided by the County Clerk Office on Nov. 12.

Scotch Plains

The school board has an uncontested race with two candidates vying for the two open three-year seats. Scotch Plains School Board candidates include: Nancy Norris-Bauer and Stephanie Suriani.

SCOTCH PLAINS SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION RESULTS (2-SEATS):

• STEPHANIE SURIANI - 2,543
• NANCY NORRIS-BAUER - 2,444

Fanwood:

Fanwood's Mayoral race was uncontested with Colleen Mahr running unopposed for the four-year seat.

FANWOOD MAYOR ELECTION RESULTS:

• COLLEEN MAHR - 1,416

The Fanwood council race on the other hand was contested with four candidates vying for the two open three-year seats. Democrats Katherine Mitchell and Francine Glaser beat out Republicans Brian Walter and Jay Morris.

FANWOOD COUNCIL ELECTION RESULTS (2-SEATS):

• KATHERINE MITCHELL - 1,235
• FRANCINE GLASER - 1,152
• JAY MORRIS- 626
• BRIAN WALTER - 559

There was also an unexpired seat up for grabs with only one person running — Democrat Jeffrey Banks.

FANWOOD COUNCIL UNEXPIRED ELECTION RESULTS (1-SEAT):

• JEFFREY BANKS - 1,308

Fanwood's school board was also contested with two candidates vying for the only open three-year seats. Candidates include Scott Brelinsky and Amy Winkler.

FANWOOD SCHOOL BOARD ELECTION RESULTS (1-SEAT):

• AMY WINKLER - 866
• SCOTT BRELINSKY - 592
