Scotch Plains To Host Virtual Town Hall Thursday

Thursday Mayor Al Smith will host a virtual meeting online to help answer questions about the township's coronavirus response.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — On Thursday, Scotch Plains Mayor Al Smith and Deputy Mayor Josh Losardo will be hosting a virtual town hall to discuss the coronavirus outbreak and how the township has responded.

Organizers say the virtual meeting will be held on Facebook and will give an update on the new rules and regulations from both the state and township and how they will affect residents, businesses, and the spread of the coronavirus.

Also up for discussion is the 2020 municipal budget, downtown redevelopment plans, the 2020 census and several other topics.

During the town hall they'll also be answering questions submitted by the public. Anyone with a question they need answered can send it to Deputy Manager Margaret Heisey at mheisey@scotchplainsnj.com. Questions relating to downtown redevelopment, the census and affordable housing should be sent to Project Coordinator for Redevelopment Tom Strowe at tstrowe@scotchplainsnj.com.

The town hall will begin at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 23. It will be broadcast on the township's Facebook page here.
