Scotch Plains Public Library Honors Veterans

The entire community is welcomed to a reception, with a special invitation to local veterans and their families to attend.

World War I and America Series Finale: Reception for Veterans and 52 Reasons to Love a Vet Exhibit

Over the last several months, Scotch Plains Public Library has been proud to present World War I and America, a series of original programming aimed to commemorate the centennial of American involvement in World War I and explore the ongoing experience of veterans who have served in our lifetime.

The community is invited to a reception to mark the series finale on Thursday, November 9 at 7 pm. We extend a special invitation to local veterans and their families to attend. Guests will have an opportunity to view 52 Reasons to Love a Vet on display in our gallery space. The exhibit was curated by NJ-based graphic designer and military mother Ella Rue-Eyet. It features veteran inspired artwork created by renowned illustrators from across the United States. Ms. Rue-Eyet will be at the event to speak about 52 Reasons to Love a Vet, the restricted fund she established to benefit veterans by financially assisting them in furthering their education and/or assisting with their medical, dental, or mental health resources.

Please show your support of our veterans by honoring them with your presence at the library the evening of Thursday, November 9, two days in advance of Veterans Day. Light refreshments will be served. Advance registration is not required.

Scotch Plains Public Library’s series is part of World War I and America, a two-year national initiative of The Library of America presented in partnership with The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the National World War I Museum and Memorial, and other organizations, with generous support from The National Endowment for the Humanities.
