The iconic beloved family amusement park, Bowcraft, may soon be no more.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — The iconic beloved family amusement park, Bowcraft, may soon be no more. Housing will most likely occupy the property off Route 22 is the Scotch Plains Planning Board passes a vote Wednesday night to designate it as a redevelopment area.

This vote would allow the township to negotiate a financial agreement, a Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT), with the would-be developers, ATA Developers to make way for a housing development, according to mycentraljersey.com.

The Planning Board had previously unanimously approved Bowcraft Amusement Park's application for the development in September of 2016 and the developers got approval to demolish the property in December.
