Scotch Plains Woman ID'd, Dies Following Plainfield Shooting
Shavonne Young of Scotch Plains was identified as the 2nd fatal victim in the Plainfield shooting on June 24. The shooter is still at large.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ — A Scotch Plains woman, who was shot in Plainfield on June 24, has died from her injuries, Union County First Assistant Prosecutor Albert Cernadas Jr. announced Monday.
The woman has been identified as Shavonne Young, 25, of Scotch Plains. She had been in critical condition following the shooting.
Young is the second fatal victim in this shooting as Michael Welsh, 34, of Plainfield was also shot and killed at the corner of New and West 5th streets at around 1 a.m. that Sunday.

Police found Welsh and Young suffering from gunshot wounds when responding to a ShotSpotter, according to the report.
Welsh was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was pronounced dead about one hour later.

Young had been hospitalized in critical condition until Monday.
