SPFHS Student 'Faces' On Display at UCC Art Gallery
Students were instructed to draw themselves not as they normally look, but instead as funny, unattractive, or scary faces.

There's just one week left to check out “Faces - Student Art: Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School Exhibit” in the Tomasulo Gallery at Union County College, on display until July 11. The exhibit is under the direction of art teacher, Jeffrey Gutterman.
"Faces" is an exhibit comprised of self-portraits done in charcoal on paper, created by senior students from Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. The students were instructed to draw themselves not as they normally look, but rather to make funny, unattractive, or scary faces. To do so, photographs were taken of their expressions in controlled lighting, using only a single light bulb. The portraits were then drawn from these photographs. The goal of this exercise was to show the human face expressing extreme emotions and to communicate the deep emotions to the viewer.
The students participating in the show are: Lesley Aviles, Dana Cappaccille, Quinn Cicolello, Emily Dzuback, Alexa Gelfand, Shaina Gordon, Shannon Healy, Sloan Ibarra, Jacob Kennedy, Marianne Khalil, Dustin Loh, Brie Manns, James Masback, Ariana Paradiso, John Roberts and Jackie Roiz.
