Snow Stalls Union County Services, Roads: See Impacts

Access to offices, courts, and certain roadways is limited.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — As the blizzard winds down, some services and means of transportation are limited around Union County.

Cleanup is estimated to continue well into Tuesday and residents should plan accordingly.

Reporting Emergencies

The 9-1-1 lines should be used for emergencies only. Do not call for power outages, road conditions, or other storm questions.

Meal Services

The Senior Nutrition Program home-delivered and congregate site meals are not being served Monday. Home-delivered recipients received an added meal on Sunday, the County said.

Parks and Roadways

Watchung Reservation, Echo Lake Park, Warinanco Park, Rahway River Park, Cedar Brook Park, and Green Brook Park are closed to traffic.

The County said these roadways will reopen once the paths are deemed safe after plowing is completed.

County Offices

All Union County offices are closed Monday. The facilities will operate on a delayed schedule Tuesday and open at 11 a.m.

Employees deemed "essential" are to consult the department head for direction.

Transportation Services

The Paratransit System and Route 22 Shuttle were not operating Monday. The schedule for Tuesday has not been confirmed.

Snow Removal

Residents should clear sidewalks that are adjacent to their property. Areas around fire hydrants should also be cleared.

Surrogate's Court

Surrogate's Court appointments on Monday have been postponed. Emails will be sent to clients to reschedule, the County said.

Hearings will be remote during the originally scheduled times.
