Friday, January 18 7 p.m. I Love Lucy Trivia Night. How much do you remember about this ground-breaking sitcom? Join us for snacks, trivia and a chance to win prizes! Ages 18 and over.
Tuesday, January 22 6:30 p.m. Accomplish Your Goals: A Life Coaching Workshop.

Don't miss the first session in this two-part workshop. Renee Toplansky, PCC, M.S. will help participants map out a realistic plan of goals, strategies and actions to turn New Year's resolutions into reality. Part Two is scheduled for March 27.
Sunday, January 27 1 p.m. Independent Film Discussion Series. Join the Friends of the Library as they kick off another season of independent films and great discussions. The film for January is "Thelma," a 2017 Norwegian drama. Save the dates for upcoming discussions on February 24th, March 24th and April 28th.

Looking Ahead to February
February Artist of the Month: Frank Hering, Nature Photography
February Lobby Display: Special Exhibit featuring the vintage doll collection of longtime resident Wanda Bosinski, donated by her family in her memory. All dolls on display will be raffled off at the end of February to benefit the Friends of the Secaucus Public Library.
Tuesday, February 5 7 p.m. Hand Lettering for Beginners. Join local artist Swetha Shenoy at this adult workshop that will teach you the basics for making your own hand lettered artwork. All supplies provided. Registration required. Check out Swetha's work at instagram.com/thepaisleycorner
Thursday, February 7 7 p.m. Adult Nonfiction Book Club. This month, the group will talk about "The Lady in Gold" by Anne-Marie O'Connor. For the March 7 meeting, the group will be discussion "Barracoon" by Zora Neale Hurston. Copies of both books are available at the circulation desk.
Saturday, February 9 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Hudson County Genealogical and Historical Society Meeting. Alvin Corbett presents "The Logistics of the Underground Railroad In the Tri-State Area." Curious about the tri-state area's role in the abolitionist movement and how the trail of safe houses and routes ferrying slaves from the southern states to freedom in the north worked? Come celebrate Black History Month with the HCGHS as Alvin Corbett provides an overview of this extensive network that eventually became known as the "Underground Railroad."
Alvin Q. Corbett is a historian, educator and lecturer. Corbett served as Vice President of Board of Directors for the Underground Railroad Museum of Burlington County, NJ (2014-2017); has been invited to be a visiting scholar at New Jersey's Rutgers University; is an active member of the Salem and Camden County, NJ Historical Societies; and is a friend of the Peter Mott Underground Railroad Museum of Lawnside, NJ.
Friday, February 22 6:30 p.m. CPR Training. Whether this is your first exposure to CPR, or if you have had CPR training in the past and you would like to refresh your skills, this class is for you. Kristin Hyman will instruct you in CPR methods that could help you save a life. Sponsored by Hudson Regional Hospital.
Thursday, February 28 6:30 p.m. - 8:45 p.m. The Flavors and History of African Food. In honor of Black History Month, join us for this special event with Meriterese Racanelli, MS R&D, Food Scientist/Nutritionist at Goya and My Plate. Learn and snack as Meriterese takes you on a historical journey of food and how African cultures and the African Diaspora have influenced what we eat around the world and in the United States. Learn the history behind Soul Food, French Creole, Caribbean cuisine, and many more foods that we have come to know and love. A variety of traditional foods will be served.
The Friends of the Library are looking for volunteers to help plan, coordinate and work at a variety of events in 2019, including our 2nd Annual Classic Car and Motorcycle Show (Saturday, September 21st, 2019.)
