Wednesday, July 11 at 7 p.m. "All’s Well That Ends Well"

Join the Friends of the Secaucus Public Library and the Hudson Shakespeare Company for two special performances happening at the amphitheater in Buchmuller Park this summer. In the event of rain, these outdoor performances will be moved to the ice rink adjacent to the park.

2. Masterpieces & Mocktails Thursday, June 14 at 7 p.m.

Artist Doug DePice will guide you as you create a masterpiece on canvas. Bring your creativity and we will supply the rest. No experience necessary, but the event is intended for adults over the age of 17. All art supplies will be sponsored by Michael's, the arts & crafts store.

Mocktails and light refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Secaucus Public Library. RSVP using the events calendar at secaucuslibrary.org or emailmay@secaucus.bccls.org

3. Monday, June 4 at 3 p.m. Paws for Reading in the Story Tower. Read to Rodney and Baby Ruth. The small, friendly therapy dogs like showing off their keen fashion sense, meeting new people (especially children) and having stories read to them. Don’t forget to RSVP by calling Lisa Machno at 201-330-2083 x4005 or signing up on our library’s website.

4. Tuesday, June 5 at 7 p.m. Aging with Vitality and Purpose. This workshop is part of the Yoga Book Club discussion series. The talk will focus on a new book called I"'ve Decided to Live 120 Years" by New York Times best-selling author Ilchi Lee. It will cover three parts: How to maintain your health physically, mentally and emotionally as we grow older. It's not about living longer, it's about how you want to live everyday we have. This discussion will be led by Adele Harris of Secaucus Body and Brain Yoga. Registration recommended.

5. Thursday, June 7 from 3:15 p.m . – 4:15 p.m. Bookish Nails. Give yourself a book-themed manicure! Bring your favorite book or one with an interesting cover and paint your nails to match. Be ready to discuss your book! At the end of each meeting we will take pictures and post them on the library's Instagram page. Come with nails ready to paint. AGES 12 & UP

6. Thursday, June 7 at 7 p.m. Nonfiction Book Club featuring "Born a Crime" by Trevor Noah. On Thursday, July 5, the group will discuss "Into the Abyss" by Carol Shaben.

7. Friday, June 8 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Paint Your Passion- for Teens! Teens are invited to 'Paint Your Passion' at the Secaucus Public Library. All artwork will be displayed. Call Lisa at 201-330-2083 x4005 for more information. AGES 12 -16 Registration recommended.

8. Saturday, June 9 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Hudson County Genealogical and Historical Society. Sharon Hodges presents 'Timelines: The Family Life Line.' All are welcome to attend.

9. Monday, June 11 1 p.m. Afternoon Book Club featuring "Mudbound" by Hillary Jordan.

10. Friday, June 15 from 3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Teen Advisory Board meeting. Help plan programs that you and your peers would like to see at the library. Advise us in selecting books, movies and other media that should be part of our collection. Make friends, earn volunteer hours and have snacks.

11. Saturday, June 16 at 9:30 a.m. Extended Story Hour End of the Year Celebration. Join us in celebrating the achievements of some of the youngest members of our library community. This event happens at the Secaucus Performing Arts Center on the Secaucus Middle/High School campus on Mill Ridge Road.

12. Saturday, June 30: 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Active Shooter Preparedness. This program aims to help the average civilian prepare and respond to an active shooter emergency in a variety of settings. Registration required.

Monday, June 18th to Friday, June 22nd
Monday, June 25th to Friday, June 29th
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Requirements:

  • Children must be 3 years old by October 1st
  • Proof of Age (Birth Certificate)
  • 2 Proofs of Secaucus Residency (Driver's License/Utility Bills, etc) for parent/guardian
  • Record of Immunizations

ADJUSTMENT TO VISION LOSS SUPPORT GROUP

Thursday, June 14th.
10am to 12pm.

Are you experiencing vision loss or are you visually impaired? Are you interested in learning about high tech tools that can make your life easier and more efficient? Do you enjoy coffee, bagels and croissants?

If the answer is yes, yes and yes, then mark your calendar to learn more aboutthe latest and greatest in technology. Some of the items are expensive but keep in mind that if you can’t afford an item, Heightened Independence and Progress (hip) may be able to offer financial assistance to Hudson and Bergen County residents.
