NEW JERSEY MEADOWLANDS — The Lyndhurst Police Department sent out this FIFA World Cup Advisory on May 3:
As many of you know, the 2026 FIFA World Cup at MetLife stadium is fast approaching. Property owners and business owners are advised to take proactive measures to secure parking areas and business locations.
MetLife will host eight (8) games in total, and tens of thousands of spectators are expected to attend the matches. Here are the FIFA matches schedule dates & times at MetLife:
June 13 6 p.m. Brazil v. Morocco
June 16 3 p.m. France v. Senegal
June 22 8 p.m. Norway v. Senegal
June 25 4 p.m. Ecuador v. Germany
June 27 5 p.m. Panama v. England
June 30 5 p.m. Round of 32
July 5 4 p.m. Round of 16
July 19 3 p.m. World Cup Final
MetLife Stadium will have no available spectator parking available due to the parking lot being used to host FIFA-related sponsors, fan experience events and heightened security measures. Public transportation will be limited and will be only able to handle half of the anticipated spectators. Ride share and shuttle services will be restricted to designated pre-approved locations.
The restricted transportation will put a high demand on nearby private and public parking areas. Expect match spectators and general fans with and without tickets to travel to the Meadowlands area searching for parking. FIFA will not allow non-sanctioned shuttling to the MetLife property; therefore, if you are planning on doing so, there will be no safe way to transport attendees to the MetLife property.
What to expect:
Expect traffic delays on Rt. 3, Rt. 17 and local streets before and after games.
Increased illegal parking complaints on public and private properties
Due to the World Cup being a high-profile event attracting politicians and dignitaries expect high security measures to be in place. Federal, state, county and local law enforcement will present before, during and after matches.
Flag Cities (June 8–July 16), led by the Meadowlands Regional Chamber of Commerce, will take place across Bergen, Essex, Hudson and Passaic counties, including in Bayonne, East Rutherford, Hackensack, Jersey City, Newark, Paterson and Secaucus. More details to come.
