Helicopters Hover Over MetLife Stadium/Secaucus

A motorcycle crash occurred just after midnight on Rt. 3 west. The helicopters appeared several hours later, in the 5 a.m. hour.

SECAUCUS, NJ — What's with the helicopters that have been hovering over Secaucus since 5 a.m. Thursday?

There was a motorcycle accident on Rt. 3 in the Harmon Meadow section of town, said Secaucus Mayor Mike Gonnelli.

But the motorcycle crash occurred just after midnight on Rt. 3 west in the area of Harmon Meadow Blvd., said Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller. A motorcyclist suffered serious, but non-fatal injuries and was taken to an area hospital.

The helicopters did not appear until several hours later, in the 5 a.m. hour, well after the motorcycle crash scene had been cleared, said the police chief.

It it still unknown who was operating the helicopters. State Police said they did not operate the helicopters.

By the time the sun came up at around 6:30 a.m., the helicopters left the area.
