SECAUCUS, NJ — More than 70 homes in Secaucus were damaged in the flood waters last Tuesday, according to town officials.

Unfortunately, most of the damaged properties were not in a flood zone and do not have flood insurance. A majority of damage reported has been to basements and lower building levels, with many homeowners losing hot water heaters, washer, dryers and heating systems as well as their personal property.

Some Secaucus residents are now facing a significant unexpected financial burden. Here's how you can help:

The Secaucus Emergency Fund is the charitable entity who will be taking the lead in collecting donations for flood relief.

"We would ask that you please donate to the Secaucus Emergency Fund to help your neighbors recover from this disaster," said Secaucus Mayor Mike Gonnelli. "ALL funds donated will be used to help your neighbors in need. If there are unused funds remaining after the effort is complete the donations will remain in a separate account for future use in the event we experience another disaster."
