Loaded Gun Found In Secaucus Speeding Traffic Stop, Police Say

Secaucus Police say a Nissan Altima stopped for speeding on Meadowlands Parkway Monday revealed a loaded handgun inside the car.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Secaucus Police say that a car stopped for speeding on Meadowlands Parkway Monday revealed a loaded handgun inside the vehicle.

At 3:26 p.m. Monday, Secaucus police officer Michael Borrelli stopped a Nissan Altima for speeding on Meadowlands Parkway, he said.

"While speaking with the occupants, Officer Borrelli developed information that there was a handgun within the vehicle," said the police agency.

During a search of the car, a Glock 19 9mm handgun loaded with a fifteen-round magazine and a round in the chamber, was seized, said police. Additionally, a loaded seventeen-round magazine and thirty-one-round magazine were also seized. Both magazines were loaded with both hollow-point and full metal jacket ammunition, said police.

The driver, Jzamere Woods, 21, of Georgia, was arrested without incident.

He was charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm [2C:39-5b(1)], three counts of Possession of a High Capacity Magazine [2C:39-3j], Unlawful Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition [2C:39-3f(1)] and Unlawful Possession of Handgun Ammunition [2C:58-3.3].

“This gun arrest is another example of the results of proactive policing efforts by members of the Secaucus Police Department,” said Police Chief Dennis Miller. “Possessing a loaded firearm with these high-capacity magazines is testament to the potential dangers our officers are up against.”

Woods was lodged in the Hudson County Jail.
