Man Broke Into Parked Cars In Harmon Cove, Secaucus Police Say

A Sandpiper Key resident called police at 5:23 a.m. on May 4 to report their car had just been broken into:

SECAUCUS, NJ — This Jersey City man is accused of breaking into multiple parked cars in the Harmon Cove townhouses complex, say Secaucus Police.

At 5:23 a.m. on May 4, a Sandpiper Key resident called the Secaucus Police Department and reported that someone burglarized her parked car and stole some money from within.

During the investigation it was discovered that the burglar, later identified as Kendjy Philippe, entered two other vehicles and attempted to burglarize a third, say police.

Two of the vehicles were parked on Sandpiper Key and the other was parked on Sandcastle Key, all within the Harmon Cove Townhouse complex.

Secaucus Police detectives gathered evidence from the car break-ins and identified Philippe, 28, of Jersey City as the person who committed these crimes.

He was arrested yesterday, Tuesday May 16, at his home in Jersey City and charged with three counts of burglary, one count of Criminal Attempt to Commit Burglary [2C:5-1/2C:18-2a(1)], Theft [2C:20-3a] and Criminal Attempt to Commit Theft [2C:5-1/2C:20-3(a)]. Philippe was lodged in the Hudson County Jail.

“Secaucus Police Department detectives will work tirelessly to apprehend criminals who victimize our residents, but our residents need to do their part to eliminate the opportunity for criminals to prey upon them,” Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said. “I again remind residents to be vigilant, lock their vehicles, and report any suspicious activity to the Secaucus Police Department.”
