A Newark man was arrested last week and charged with a 2021 hit-and-run of a 56-year-old woman and her 3-year-old grandson on Tonnelle Ave.
NORTH BERGEN, NJ — A Newark man was arrested last week and charged with a 2021 hit-and-run of a 56-year-old woman and her 3-year-old grandson on Tonnelle Avenue in North Bergen.
Both the woman and toddler boy were critically injured, but ultimately survived.
Micah James, 22, is charged with leaving the scene of a car crash resulting in serious bodily injury, hindering apprehension and two counts of assault by auto.

He was arrested in Hinesville, Georgia, last Tuesday, October 18, during a traffic stop; he had open warrants out of Hudson County for his arrest.
The crash happened at midnight Saturday, September 4, 2021 in the area of Tonnelle Avenue and 46th Street; police responded to a 911 call of a car striking multiple pedestrians. Upon arrival, officers found the grandmother and toddler boy, both from Queens, in the street with life-threatening injuries.

Police say the midsize sedan was traveling south when it hit them while they were crossing the street near the intersection.
The car then fled.
James is now at the Hudson County Jail and is is tentatively scheduled to appear in court Nov. 1.
