Man Had 18 Pounds Of Pot In Secaucus Hotel Room: Police

SECAUCUS, NJ — A man was discovered with 18 pounds of marijuana in his Secaucus hotel room last Friday night, said Secaucus Police.

This happened at the Aloft hotel, behind Red Robin and Buffalo Wild Wings.

At 2:34 p.m. last Friday, Feb. 9 Secaucus Police were called there by hotel staff after they said they received a suspicious package that had been mailed to the hotel in the man's name. The package was later found to contain marijuana and CBD.

Secaucus Police Anti-Crime Unit set up a surveillance at the hotel and later that night, at 12:50 a.m. the man, Edgar Chavez, 45, of Temecula, CA was taken into custody.

Police said he had approximately 18 pounds of marijuana in his hotel room. The package, which contained more pot and CBD, was found in his car. He also had magic mushrooms in his hotel room, said police.

He was charged with possession with intent to distribute, among other charges.
