SECAUCUS, NJ — A man jumped to his death Tuesday morning from the Rt. 3 bridge in between Secaucus and East Rutherford, according to the Secaucus Fire Department.

This happened at around 11 a.m. Tuesday, said Secaucus Fire Chief Joe Schoendorf.

The man jumped from the Rt. 3 westbound bridge. East Rutherford Police managed the scene, as this occurred on the East Rutherford side of the bridge (the side closest to American Dream mall, not Secaucus).

The Rt. 3 bridge over the Hackensack River is about 134 feet tall.

This is entirely unrelated to the earlier accident Tuesday morning on the Rt. 3 bridge eastbound into Secaucus, where a car collided with an oil tanker truck, spilling oil all over Rt. 3, and tying up traffic for hours Tuesday morning.
