Man Rammed Secaucus Car With Stolen Mercedes, Police Say

Police say a Newark man rammed a stolen Mercedes-Maybach into a car in Secaucus last Wednesday, Jan. 11.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Police say a Newark man rammed a stolen Mercedes-Maybach into a car in Secaucus last Wednesday, Jan. 11. The luxury vehicle had been stolen from a home in Morris County.

However, he was not apprehended by Secaucus Police that day.

Instead, Tysean Ware, 20, was arrested the next day, Jan. 12, outside his home in Newark.

In Secaucus, Ware rammed the stolen Mercedes-Maybach into a car driven by an off-duty officer who lives in the area. That officer was not involved in any police action when he had his car struck by the fleeing stolen Mercedes, said Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller.

According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert Carroll, Ware broke into multiple homes in Mendham Township and Morris Township last Tuesday, and stole a 2021 Mercedes SL500 Maybach from one of them.

The Morris Township Police Department received a report of a burglary in progress on Jan. 10. Responding officers discovered that Ware had twice entered a Morris Township residence where a minor was present.

Following that, video surveillance showed Ware entering and driving off in the resident's 2021 Mercedes SL500 Maybach.

Ware was in Morristown that day for a scheduled visit with his Morris County Recovery Court Probation Officer. However, according to the Morris County Prosecutor, he was driven to and from his probation visit in a stolen Range Rover.

The stolen Range Rover was found in Ridgefield Park, Bergen County, with proceeds from the Mendham and Morris Twp. burglaries on Jan. 10.

Following the incident where he rammed a Secaucus police car, the stolen Mercedes-Maybach was discovered a short time later in Newark, said police.

Ware has been charged with burglary, theft, charged with conspiracy to commit theft, theft of a motor vehicle, theft of personal property, conspiracy to commit burglary, three counts of burglary and criminal trespass. Ware has been additionally charged in Secaucus with second-degree eluding and receiving stolen property.
