Man Shot Himself At 10th Street Apartments In Secaucus: Police
Secaucus Police say they got a call of a burglary at this apartment complex at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, where they found a man with a gun:

SECAUCUS, NJ — A 70-year-old man called police to report a burglary at a 10th Street apartment complex, and then shot himself in the chest when police arrived, say Secaucus Police.
At approximately 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, the Secaucus Police Department responded to a report of a possible burglary to an apartment at 729 10th Street.
The first responding police officer observed a man walking towards him in the parking lot of the apartment complex.

The man, later identified as a 70-year-old Clifton resident, was armed with a handgun and shot himself in the chest. He was immediately transported by Emergency Medical Services to Hudson Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The man's name has not been released by police.

There was a massive police response to 10th Street, with witnesses reporting as many as 20 police cars responding.
In accordance with directives by the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office was notified and responded to the scene. The Attorney General was also notified.
The reported burglary was unfounded and a preliminary investigation determined the 70-year-old man was the person who initially called police. The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
