This Man Wanted In Fatal Secaucus Hit And Run On Rt. 3

Police say this man struck a woman, 35, as she was walking home from work along Rt. 3 last Monday in Secaucus. He remains at large.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Saurez says she has identified this man as the person suspected of hitting a woman in Secaucus last Monday, killing her as she walked home on Rt. 3. He then fled the scene, say police.

The driver has been identified as David Ceausu, and he has been charged with knowingly leaving the scene of an accident, resulting in death, which is a second-degree crime.

Ceausu's car, a Chevy Suburban or Tahoe, has been identified and since recovered.

As Patch reported, 35-year-old Reyna Huerta-Flores was struck and killed as she was walking home from work on a Rt. 3 East service road last Monday. She worked at a well-known cheese-making business on Windsor Drive in Secaucus, and was walking to her home in Union City, said Secaucus Mayor Mike Gonnelli, who called her death "awful."

Ceausu is accused of hitting her at 7:30 p.m. at 850 Paterson Plank Road, near the Secaucus Home Depot, Mamajuana Cafe and the entrance to the NJ Turnpike. She was taken to Hudson Regional Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 11:16 p.m.

Many people walk back and forth between Secaucus and Union City/Hoboken and West New York, although it is a congested, high-traffic area that feeds into the Lincoln Tunnel.

He may attempt to flee the area or the country and possesses a Canadian driver’s license, said the county prosecutor. Ceausu is described as 5’4” tall, approximately 165 pounds and has dark hair and brown eyes.
