Man Found Floating In Hackensack River Was Shot To Death: Prosecutor
It was a fisherman who first discovered the body floating in the Hackensack; the man was wrapped in plastic, ABC 7 reports:
SECAUCUS, NJ — The man found floating in the Hackensack River off Secaucus Saturday died from multiple gunshot wounds, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez announced Monday in an update on the grim discovery.
However, investigators have still not been able to determine the man's identity.
Someone first spotted the man's body at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, floating in the Hackensack River near the Eastern Spur of the NJ Turnpike in Secaucus. An autopsy performed Sunday by the medical examiner determined he died of multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Secaucus Police received the first 911 call about the body. Lyndhurst and Mahwah dive teams responded, shutting down Laurel Hill Park for hours Saturday afternoon and into Saturday evening.

For reasons that are unknown, it took several hours to retrieve the man's body from the cold, dark river. His body was pulled ashore shortly after 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
