Motorcyclist Fleeing Traffic Stop Died In Secaucus County Ave. Crash

A Hudson County Sheriff's officer tried to pull over a motorcyclist, who fled the traffic stop and then collided with an SUV:

SECAUCUS, NJ — On Friday morning, the New Jersey Attorney General released new information about the fatal County Avenue car crash that happened Wednesday in Secaucus:

The incident unfolded after a motorcyclist allegedly left the scene of an attempted police traffic stop, said the office of NJ Attorney General Matt Platkin in this press release.

One man, the motorcyclist, was killed.

The incident began when a Hudson County Sheriff’s officer, in a marked police vehicle, attempted to pull the motorcyclist over on County Avenue.

The AG says the motorcyclist drove off, traveling northbound on County Avenue, where he struck an uninvolved civilian SUV at the intersection of County Avenue and Charles Street at approximately 12:22 p.m.

This caused the motorcyclist to be ejected from his bike and seriously injured. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 1:13 p.m. The occupants of the SUV were uninjured.

For reasons that are unknown, the Attorney General said he would not release the identity of the motorcyclist at this time.

A candlelit vigil has been set up for the motorcyclist on County Ave. at Shetik Field.
