New Incident Of Man With Gun At Secaucus Hotel, Police Say

"With my full support, our Anti-Crime Unit will continue to probe the hotels within Secaucus," said the Secaucus Police Chief.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Last Tuesday, we reported how Secaucus Police chased a man suspected of being armed with a gun through the North End of town, in a pursuit that began at the Meadowlands Plaza Hotel.

This past Saturday, Aug. 14, Secaucus Police made a new arrest, not of that suspect, but of another man at the Meadowlands Plaza Hotel who also had a gun, which police say he was not licensed to carry in New Jersey.

According to Secaucus Police, at 3:11 p.m. Saturday:

The Secaucus Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit was in the area of the Meadowlands Plaza Hotel at 40 Wood Avenue. "They observed a man fitting the description of a person that was wanted for gun possession at the same hotel earlier in the week, but evaded capture."

"While speaking to this man, a handgun was observed in the door pocket of the car he was driving within his immediate reach," said police.

"It was later determined he was not the wanted man, but (another) who was arrested for possessing a loaded Taurus G3C 9mm handgun," said police. "The handgun was loaded with a sixteen round magazine, which contained hollow-point and full metal jacket ammunition. Additional handgun ammunition was also seized from within the vehicle."

Rasul Wilson, 29, of North Carolina was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a high-capacity magazine, possession of hollow-point ammunition and unlawful possession of handgun ammunition.

“With my full support, our Anti-Crime Unit will continue to probe the hotels within Secaucus in an attempt to suppress criminal activity,” Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller said Monday.
