Police Standoff In Secaucus Motel For Several Hours Thursday

SECAUCUS, NJ — There was a police stand-off in a Secaucus motel that lasted for several hours Thursday night.

This happened just before 3 a.m. Nov. 12 at the Extended Stay America on Meadowlands Parkway: At that time and date, Secaucus Police were called to the hotel for a report of a disturbance.

Upon arrival, they approached the room and were met by a hostile woman who was throwing objects at them in the doorway, said Police Chief Dennis Miller. Additionally, the woman threatened to harm the officers with a knife.

Officers took up tactical positions and called in SWAT. Negotiators managed to have the woman exit the room after being barricaded within for several hours.

No injuries were reported and she was involuntarily taken for a mental health evaluation. Her name was not published since she was an emotionally disturbed person and taken to the hospital.

The woman was charged with terroristic threats and obstructing a governmental function.
