Secaucus Increases Drunk Driving Patrols In December

The town of Secaucus announced Friday, Dec. 1 that they will be dramatically increasing patrols looking for drunk or buzzed drivers.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Look out if you're driving around Secaucus in the month of December:

The town of Secaucus announced Friday, Dec. 1 that they will be dramatically increasing patrols looking for drunk or buzzed drivers. Beginning this Friday, December 8 and continuing through January 1, Secaucus police officers will conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints looking for drunk drivers.

Many other towns in New Jersey are doing the same. Many municipalities received grants to fund the extra patrols. The goal is an overall statewide reduction in drunk driving accidents in New Jersey by 24 percent in 2017.

A Piscataway man caused a drunk driving accident in South Brunswick on Thanksgiving Eve, police said. He drove into two cars on Rt. 1 before he was finally stopped by police. In the second incident, he caused both his car and the car he hit to flip over. Miraculously, nobody was injured in the crash. Hemraj Behari, 27, of Piscataway, was arrested and charged with DUI.
