Secaucus Library's Upcoming April Events
From free painting lessons to Shakespeare performances, here are upcoming events this April at the Secaucus town library:

SECAUCUS, NJ — This is by no means a complete list, but here are upcoming events this spring at the Secaucus town library:
1. Tuesday, April 2: 7 p.m. The Complete Works of William Shakespeare: Sayeth what? A unique play presented by Hudson Shakespeare Company. (Abridged.) Sponsored by the Friends of the Secaucus Public Library. This Hudson Shakespeare Company production of the popular Reduced Shakespeare Company comedy promises a night of Shakespeare, improv and silliness as the troupe speeds through 37 plays in 97 minutes (more or less.)
2. Wednesday, April 3 and Wednesday, April 10. Free painting lessons. 6 p.m. Sign up today for an evening of painting for adults, led by artist Doug DePice. We are holding this event twice to accommodate more attendees —please register for just one of the two dates at secaucuslibrary.org.

3. Thursday, April 4 7 p.m. Adult Nonfiction Book Club. This month, the group will talk about "The Woman Who Smashed Codes" by Jason Fagone. For the May 2 meeting, the group will discuss "The Trials of Nina McCall: Sex, Surveillance, and the Decades-Long Goverment Plan to Imprison 'Promiscuous' Women" by Scott W. Stern. Copies of both books are available at the circulation desk.
4. Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale: Thursday, April 4 to Sunday, April 7

5. Tuesday, April 9. 7 p.m. Can We Talk? Recreational Marijuana. It is now legal to use marijuana recreationally in 10 states. New Jersey is not among them. Should it be? Adults 18 and over are invited to join us for a lively discussion in a civil, open-minded environment led by Zinnia Miller and Carol Ellison.
6. Friday, April 12: The Honeymooners Trivia Night: 7 p.m. in the Panasonic Room. Join us for a night of fun, laughs and friendly competition. Prizes and snacks will be provided. Registration required. Call 201 330 2083.
7. Saturday, April 13. 11am-1pm. Hudson County Genealogical and Historical Society Meeting.
Lorraine Arnold presents "How to Do a House History: A Primer with Hudson County Examples"
Have you ever wondered about the history of your home or the homes of your ancestors? Join us as Lorraine Arnold gives us a starting point to research the background of a house, with emphasis on Hudson County. Lorraine Arnold is a historical researcher of people, places and things to solve mysteries, tell histories, and build lives.
8. Friday, April 26. 6:30 p.m. Teen Poetry Slam. Join us for an hour long poetry slam in honor of National Poetry Month. Come and share your favorite poem! The poems can be written by a poet that you love or they can be an original piece. Sign up for your 5 minute time slot today! Ages 12-18. Registration required.
9. Sunday April 28. 1 p.m. Independent film discussion series: Roma. Come for the movie and discussion.
10. Soap-making class April 30 6:30 p.m. Learn how to make your own soap to keep or give away as gifts. You will be making soap in this class. Register in advance.
Looking ahead to May, there will be a night of Star Wars trivia on May 3 at 7 p.m. and a Meditation Seminar: Mind, Body and Spirit on May 20.
Artist of the Month: Frank Hering
Now through April 30th, 2019
Local photographer Frank Hering will be displaying a selection of his works in our second floor meeting room and gallery space throughout the months of March and April 2019. The photographs on exhibit capture the grace and power of birds, dolphins and horses in motion and at rest, as well as other scenes of natural beauty.
