Secaucus Police Blotter, Nov. 6 - Nov. 12
A Long Branch man and woman were charged with shoplifting, and had heroin on them Saturday night at the Secaucus Walmart, say police.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Released by Secaucus Police, all of last week's arrests:
On Nov. 6 at 9:22 a.m., Secaucus Police responded to the East Windsor Police Department to take custody of a 38-year-old male, Jorge Bernabe, non-domicile, on an outstanding $750 warrant for simple assault [2C:12-1A(1)]. Mr. Bernabe was processed and subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail to await his court hearing.
On Nov. 8 at 1:10 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the North Bergen Police Department to take custody of a 45-year-old male, Antonio Martinez-Cruz, of Jersey City, NJ on an outstanding warrant for shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)]. Mr. Martinez-Cruz was processed and subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail to await his court hearing.

On Nov. 8 at 6:53 a.m., Secaucus Police responded to the Plaza Center CVS on a report of shoplifting. Officers arrested a 28-year-old male, Sebastian Serra of Closter, NJ who was charged with shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)] and possession of drug paraphernalia [2C:36-2(A)]. Mr. Serra was processed and subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.
On Nov. 8 at 2:05 p.m., Nafis Greene, a 23-year-old Newark, NJ man turned himself in to Secaucus Police headquarters after he was charged in connection with a burglary [2C:18-2A(1)] and criminal attempt at motor theft [2C:20-10.1(A)] that occurred on Aug. 28 on 9th Street. Mr. Greene was processed and subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.

On Nov. 8 at 6:17 p.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 36-year-old male, Jonathan Serrano of Jersey City, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Bayonne, NJ in the amount of $600 along with 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Union City, NJ in the amount of $500. Union City did release Mr. Rosario on his own recognizance pending a future court date. Mr. Serrano was able to post bail for the Bayonne warrant, and was subsequently released from custody.
On Nov. 10 at 12:09 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to Plaza Candy located at 700 Plaza Dr. on a report of shoplifting. Officers arrested a 31-year-old male, Kevin Guzman of Franklin Lakes, NJ who was charged with shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)]. Mr. Guzman was processed and subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.
On Nov. 11 at 2:58 p.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 34-year-old male, Adam Reid of Brooklyn, NY for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Saddle Brook, NJ in the amount of $750 along with 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Waldwick, NJ in the amount of $500. Both courts authorized Mr. Alvarez to be released on his own recognizance. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended [39:3-40], and driving without a license [39:3-10], and subsequently released from custody.
On Nov. 11 at 7:28 p.m., Secaucus Police Anti-Crime Unit arrested 25-year-old male, Escorlin Cortorreal Taveras, of Union City, NJ for Distribution of CDS [2C:35-5B(5)] in connection with an investigation dating back to July 10 of this year. Mr. Cortorreal Taveras was processed and released from custody on a summons.
On Nov. 11 at 10:06 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the WalMart on a report of shoplifting. Officers arrested James Cogan, a 38-year-old male, and Laryssa Rodrigues, a 25-year-old female, both of Long Branch, NJ for Shoplifting [2C:20-11B(1)] and Conspiracy to Commit [2C:5-2A(1)]. Ms. Rodriguez was also charged with Possession of CDS [2C:35-10a(1)], believed to be heroin and Possession of CDS Paraphernalia [2C:36-2]. Both Mr. Cogan and Ms. Rodriguez were processed and subsequently transported to the Hudson County Jail.
On Nov. 12 at 6:15 p.m., during a motor vehicle stop, Secaucus Police arrested a 58-year-old male, Yanco Alvarez of Secaucus, NJ for 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Maywood, NJ in the amount of $1,000 along with 1 outstanding warrant issued out of Union City, NJ in the amount of $750. Maywood did release Mr. Alvarez on his own recognizance pending a future court date. Mr. Alvarez was issued motor vehicle summonses for Improper Display [39:3-33], and Failure to Insure [39:6B-2]. Mr. Alvarez was transported to the Union City Police Department, where Union City PD took custody of him.
On Nov. 12 at 8:54 p.m., Secaucus Police responded to the area of Paterson Plank Road and Plaza Center Rd. on a report of suspicious vehicle. During the investigation, police arrested a 33-year-old male, Hareshkumar Maniya of Jersey City, NJ for Driving While Intoxicated [39:4-50]. Mr. Maniya was issued his motor vehicle summons for Driving While Intoxicated and was released to the custody of Hudson Regional Hospital Staff.
These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
