Video of the Feb. 16 Secaucus dog attack at the Red Roof Inn is now public:

SECAUCUS, NJ — On Tuesday, for the first time ever, video of the Feb. 16 Secaucus dog attack at the Red Roof Inn has now been made public.

Patch filed an Open Public Records Act (ORPA) request for this video on Monday, and Secaucus Police released the video within less than 24 hours.

Three Cane Corsos attacked a man and woman in the Red Roof parking lot at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 16. The man and woman, a married couple, were staying at the Red Roof with their two young children, said police. They appeared to be tourists visiting the area from New York state.

The dogs start following the woman starting at about the 20-second mark. The video shows them pursuing her, nipping at her, and she briefly runs while the three large dogs chase her.

The dogs quickly overwhelm the woman and drag her to the ground. Her husband rushed to help her, as did another man, who has never been identified. The dog's owner, Robert Braxton, 42, of Hoboken, also enters the scene, using crutches. He was staying at one of the motel rooms. He is seen throughout the attack using his crutches to hit the dogs.

The two men were able to get the dogs off the woman, but the animals continued to follow the man and woman; the attack moves behind a white car. The dogs knocked the man to the ground and bit and mauled him for approximately the next two minutes.

The first arriving Secaucus Police car got there at minute 3:20. By this point, the attack appeared to have ended and one dog is seen running loose in the parking lot. An ambulance showed up as did more police cars and the couple was taken to Hackensack Meridian Medical Center. Both required surgery. The man in particular will have scars on this face, neck and arms that will be permanent, the judge previously said.

On March 3, Secaucus municipal court Judge Karen Boylan ruled the dogs fit the legal definition of being vicious and they should be euthanized. Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Brenden Brower urged her to rule that way.

As the dog's owner, Braxton has until 1 p.m. on March 23 to file an appeal of her decision. He has not filed an appeal as of Tuesday, March 17, according to the Secaucus municipal court. The three Cane Corsos are being housed at the Secaucus Animal Shelter until they will be euthanized.
