Uber Opens New Driver Hub In Secaucus
Centrally-located Secaucus is perhaps an obvious fit for an Uber hub, with quick access to Manhattan, the NJ Turnpike and Newark airport.

SECAUCUS, NJ — Uber views Secaucus as a major transit hub, and just this week the company opened what they're calling a "Greenlight Hub" on Meadowlands Parkway. The company expects nearly 2,000 Uber drivers to visit the location each week.
Uber is renting 7,000 square feet of office space at 150 Meadowlands Parkway, within the Harmon Cove Industrial Park. The space is meant to primarily be an in-person support center for both new and existing drivers. It's a place where Uber drivers can go for training, to return lost & found items, and it's also where they can stop by if they'd like to grab a cup of coffee and rest for a few minutes. The space just opened this past Tuesday.
Centrally-located Secaucus is perhaps an obvious fit for an Uber hub, with quick access into Manhattan, the NJ Turnpike and Newark airport. There is also ample parking. Many Uber drivers also live in the surrounding towns, like West New York, Union City, North Bergen and Jersey City.

"Our new location in Secaucus reflects Uber's ongoing pledge to better serve our New Jersey driver community,” said Brian Hughes, Uber General Manager for the New Jersey. That's Hughes with Secaucus Mayor Mike Gonnelli above. “We're excited about the growth we've seen in the Garden State and will continue investing in the region."
The office includes a classroom for up to 32 people to conduct “Intro to Uber” sessions, as well as other driver-focused learning initiatives and community events. There is also a space for vendors, such as insurers and wireless carriers, to set up tables.

The Secaucus location will also serve as an all-important lost & found area, as people often leave things behind in their Uber. The company encourages drivers and riders to report lost items through their app, but if that doesn't work the drivers can bring a lost item to the Greenlight Hub to be mailed back.

Uber donated $5,000 to the Secaucus Emergency Fund to thank the town. The Secaucus Emergency Fund is a local nonprofit that helps residents facing financial hardship. The Uber hub will be open Monday - Friday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. The company has 600 similar "hubs" around the world.
“It’s exciting to see a major international tech company like Uber choose Secaucus as the kind of community that it wants to invest in,” said Secaucus Mayor Mike Gonnelli in a statement. “I’m proud to welcome Uber as a new neighbor.”
