SECAUCUS, NJ — On Aug. 18, the newly remodeled Secaucus Walmart surprised a local teacher with a shopping cart full of school supplies, plus a $500 gift card to purchase additional items.
The local teacher is Gillian Bonner, who teaches special education at Huber Street School. Bonner grew up in Rutherford in a family of teachers. This will mark her fifth year in the Secaucus district, where she supports students in grades 3-5.
Bonner said she was totally surprised by the donation of items, which included notebooks, markers for students and fun lighting for the classroom.
