Somerset County investigators and local police are still determining the cause of death and are asking anyone who may have seen or heard something in the area to contact them or submit an anonymous tip.

2. Fugitive of the month wanted in NJ sex assault case (shorenewsnetwork.com) — Somerset County prosecutors have named a 51-year-old man their Fugitive of the Month in connection with a long-running sexual assault case tied to North Plainfield. Authorities are asking Somerset-area residents to share any information on his whereabouts with the Prosecutor’s Office, via the STOPit app, or through Crime Stoppers, but warn people not to approach him directly.

3. Franklin Township Introduces $75.3M Budget; Public Hearing Set for May 26 (tapinto.net) — Franklin Township officials in Somerset have introduced a $75.3 million 2026 budget that raises the local tax levy by 7%, adding about $74 a year for the average homeowner. Eight vacant positions and some reserves were cut to limit the increase, and $3.44 million from medical benefits reserves will help balance rising costs. Residents can comment at a public hearing on May 26 before final adoption.

Award-Winning YMCA Team Includes Somerville Students (tapinto.net) — Students from Greater Somerset County YMCA branches, including Somerville and Franklin Township, just wrapped up a strong Youth & Government season at the statewide conference in East Brunswick. Local teens drafted bills, debated policy, and even earned full scholarships, with YMCA leaders saying the experience shows Somerset County’s future civic leadership is in good hands.
