2 South Brunswick Police Officers Promoted To Fill Retirement Vacancies
Richard Hutchison was promoted to Lieutenant and Sean Roberts was promoted to Sergeant at a recently-held ceremony.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK NJ — Two police officers from the South Brunswick Police Department were recently promoted to fill posts that were left vacant due to retirements.
Richard Hutchison, a 23-year veteran of the department was promoted to Lieutenant and Sean Roberts, a 16-year veteran was promoted to Sergeant.
Chief Raymond Hayducka said Hutchison and Roberts bring decades of service, experience, and knowledge to their new positions.

“They will uphold the high standards the South Brunswick Police Department is committed to. Policing has changed over the last decade with increased accountability and transparency. These supervisors will ensure we maintain the highest level of service to our community,” Hayducka said.
Hutchison most recently served in the Investigations Division of the SBPD. In the past , he served as a patrol officer, field training officer, school resource officer, patrol sergeant, field training sergeant, and detective sergeant.

He holds a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Western New England University and received numerous awards and letters of commendation.
Roberts previously served in SBPD’s Patrol Division. He has also served as an evidence technician for the past 12 years. Roberts holds a bachelor’s degree in Administration of Justice with a Criminology Certificate from Rutgers University.
Throughout his career, he has received numerous awards and commendations, including Exceptional Service Award, Sharpshooter, Valor Award, and the Medal of Honor.
Hayducka said the officers went through a challenging process to achieve these promotions, including studying for months, performing well on tests, and having an exhaustive file review to determine their eligibility.
“They now have the challenge and responsibility of leading our officers on a daily basis,” Hayducka said.
The police chief thanked the Township Manager, Mayor, and Council for supporting the promotions.
