$500K In State Funds For South Brunswick Library Project
The funds will help the library offset unanticipated additional costs due to inflation and unexpected site work, the SBPL Foundation said.

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ — The South Brunswick Public Library’s construction project got a $500,000 boost from the state, the SBPL Foundation said.
The grant is part of the 2023 NJ state budget and was secured by Sen. Andrew Zwicker (NJ-16).
The additional funds will help the library offset unanticipated additional costs due to inflation and unexpected site work, the foundation said in a press statement.

The initiative was spearheaded by SBPL Foundation’s campaign chair Bina Mehta and Library Director Chris Carbone along with Zwicker.
“My own children spent countless hours in the South Brunswick Library when they were students and I am thrilled that we were able to secure the necessary funding to ensure that for years to come, students will have the same opportunity,” Zwicker said in a statement.

“The planned upgrade and expansion of the facility will help transform the library, not just into a place to study or to find a favorite book, but as an anchor of the South Brunswick community.”
Zwicker thanked NJ-16 legislators Roy Freiman and Sadaf Jaffer for their advocacy that “got us to this point and I can’t wait to see the results.”
Recently, Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, who serves on the House Appropriations Committee, secured $405,000 for the library as part of the fiscal year 2022 federal funding bill. More: Watson Coleman Delivers $405K To South Brunswick Library At Carnival
The funds will go towards repairs and upgrades to the library which will include a 128-seat state-of-the-art auditorium with a stage, new meeting room, additional parking, HVAC improvements and repurposing of interior space.
