A Long Branch police officer was stabbed in the head over the weekend while intervening in a domestic dispute, according to the media reports.
Officer Geter Benitez was responding to a domestic dispute on July 19 when he saw a suspect assaulting a woman and intervened, NJ.com reported. He was stabbed in the head during the struggle but continued to fight with the suspect until other officers and a bystander helped subdue the person.
A swimmer died Friday after being pulled from the water near 59th Street, according to meda reports.
The Sea Isle City Beach Patrol was alerted around 4 p.m. after a man went underwater, according to 6ABC Action News. Witnesses said beach patrol members searched the water before locating the man. Emergency responders performed lifesaving measures on the beach before he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
A lightning strike started a fire at an auto body shop in Hamilton Saturday evening, according to fire officials.
The structure fire broke out around 3:45 p.m. at the shop on 983 Whitehorse-Mercerville Road, according to News 12 New Jersey. No injuries were reported, the fire department said.
Two men were shot dead on the street in North Arlington on Sunday night, officials said.
Police were dispatched to the corner of Ridge Road and Belleville Turnpike, near the border with Kearny. There they found a 28-year-old man and a 29-year-old man with gunshot wounds on scene.

A 35-year-old Union man was killed in a dump truck crash Saturday morning on State Highway 440 North, according to News 12 New Jersey.
Officials responded to the crash around 7:13 a.m., News 12 New Jersey reported. A Mack dump truck traveling northbound on the ramp veered off the roadway, struck a parked trailer and overturned.
The driver died from injuries suffered in the crash.
First responders rescued multiple people on Saturday as flash flooding swallowed roads and vehicles across New Jersey.
More than 5,000 homes and businesses were without power across the state, including more than 4,800 Jersey Central Power & Light customers, according to the JCP&L website.
