A groundhog attacked a Mullica Township resident on Weekstown Road last month and later tested positive for rabies — Atlantic County's second confirmed case this year, following a rabid raccoon in January. The resident is undergoing post-exposure treatment, and two exposed outdoor cats are under a four-month observation period.

1 Hospitalized After Boat Collision Off Barnegat Light

One person was airlifted to Atlantic City Mainland Hospital after two boats collided about 10 miles off the coast of Barnegat Light Friday morning, News 12 reported. The Coast Guard received a mayday call around 11:30 a.m.; the injured passenger, one of four people aboard the vessels, suffered arm and head injuries. A lifeboat and helicopter were deployed for the rescue.

Woman Killed In Head-On Crash

A Toms River woman was killed Thursday in a head-on crash on Route 70 in Manchester, police said.

Tammy Huth, 53, was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash that happened about 5:15 p.m. Thursday near mile marker 43 on Route 70, Manchester Capt. Albert Vega said.

Cop Rescues 2 Teen Swimmers Off Asbury Park

A rookie Asbury Park Police officer jumped into the ocean and saved two teenage swimmers who were in distress early Saturday morning in Asbury Park.

3-Year-Old Girl Dies After Being Found In Pool

A Bergen County toddler died on Thursday after being found unresponsive in a back yard swimming pool, police said Friday. Police canvassing the area found the girl unresponsive in a nearby back yard pool.
